On this image you can see what you need to tick off in order to improve your performance.
I want to educate you, it might not look pretty, but I promise you IT WORKS.
First – Mental health is one of the most important if not the most important.Everything starts from the mind, from the way you feel in your daily life. If don’t feel well, you won’t do well. FACT. Identify clearly your fears, goals, stress or anything else that bothers you. Clear your mind. And of course make sure that you are having quality SLEEP at night.
Second – Do you wanna become better on the bike? Best way to become better on the bike is guess what?! Ride your bike more! Practice your starts, sprints, cornering , jumps or anything else that you need to improve.
Third – Mobilise your body. Mobility work will help you to keep your joints in good condition. Healthy joints -> happy body -> more time on the bike!
Fourth – Strong is never wrong! Be strong means, better bike control, can prevent crashes ( whenever is possible), ride for longer, increase confidence and the list goes on.
Fifith – Power is the love child of strength and speed. Being powerful means that you can exert force to produce the desired movement. For instants, to be able to save a crash while your front wheel is washing out while you cornering. That demands strength and speed (power).
Sixth – Improve your skills, that could be your overall balance, agility, reaction time, overall coordination or anything else that you feel that needs improvement.
Finally as your moving up on the performance pyramid, you got to make sure that your nutrition is as good as it can gets, if not all time – majority of the time. Would you put low quality race fuel in your bike? I don’t think so.
Also we always do some sort of conditioning work. Conditioning work will increase your cardiovascular system’s performance. As a result you will be more efficient on the practice / race days and he recovery time will be much better.
Did you read the whole caption? Well done , it seems that you are not looking for a quick fix. These are the fundamentals.
