One of the biggest fear for a motocross athlete is getting injured. And that’s because majority of the time when a MX rider getting injured isn’t a minor injury such as “pulling a hamstring’’ or “ankle sprain”.
In motocross is not like “IF” you get injured but “WHEN” you get injured. It’s just comes with the sport – period.
Most of the time when an MX rider get injured, means at least 4-6 months of the bike – it depends the injury.
MX riders are probably one the toughest athletes out – pain threshold wise . But also are one of the worst regarding the patience. And to be fair why not?! Who wouldn’t want to be out there doing what their love instead of sitting at home being in pain.
I totally get it how badly you wanna be back on the bike as soon as possible.
Many times you might have the perception that if you can’t ride your bike – there is nothing else you can do, it’s like you feel emotionally “empty”. And that’s how you start losing your patience.
Here is some solutions for you then.
What if I tell you that while you are waiting for the injury to heal you could prepare your come back and in fact you could get faster and stronger than prior the injury!
You could ask your doctor, physio and coach what else can you do in order to continue to stay fit, strong and ready to get back on the bike.
You could continue study and learning ways of how you can improve the bike by watching videos of you riding but also observe other riders style. That could keep the fire on your soul alive as well.
You could seek for help in order to improve your mental strength too.
So next time that you get injured and you feel lost and impatient, think all the above and stop seeking for excuses. Coming back too early from an injury – it always means more troubles.
